METADATA Version 3.1

Remember last update when I said the next update would be the big one with all the content? Me neither.

Anyway, I found a few bugs from the previous build (amazing what happens when you actually playtest your game) so I ended up making about twenty or so changes for this update. Thankfully I remembered to document every change along the way, so this will be the most detailed log to date.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a bug where the boss would not start after the player respawns if the player is moving horizontally.
  • Fixed a bug where the splash screen would not skip if the skip button was spammed.
  • Fixed a bug where the lower pitched pause music effect would carry over into normal gameplay after quitting and returning from the main menu.
  • Fixed a bug where deaths would not count if the player died during the boss.
  • Fixed a bug where the screen would shake on the menu screen if space was held at any time.
  • Fixed a bug where the menu could be navigated while the room is transitioning.

Cosmetic Changes

  • At high speeds, the player now has a sprite trail.
  • Buttons now make a sound when pressed.
  • Jumping off of blue floors now creates blue dust particles.
  • The platforms in Sector B now have new sprites.
  • Some tiles have been rearranged in Sector B.
  • The camera now shakes briefly when the boss takes a hit.
  • The edge of the room for the ending cutscene is no longer shown.
  • Camera shaking mechanics in general have been adjusted.
  • Menu UI now shakes with the camera as well.

Gameplay Changes

  • Maximum player speed has been raised.
  • Buttons are now solid before they are pressed.
  • Lava blocks now move around randomly from their start position.
  • Coins now function as checkpoints as well, meaning players will respawn at their location after death or after reloading the game.
  • Respawn positions from checkpoint locations has been adjusted.
